On Saturday. April 22, 2006, Newton County Celebrated her 160th Anniversary with a program at the Civic Center. The program was rich in history and full of hope for the future. Many dignitaries were in attendance as were the proud citizens of this great county that will become even greater in the future. Ms. Pam Wright was the Mistress of Ceremonies and the organizing and driving force behind this wonderful and historic event. It was officially sponsored by the Newton County Historical Commission.
