Christmas for the needy 2008

On December,  2008, Charlet Meyer of the County Extension Office led efforts to distribute food and toys to needy families throughout the county. Food came from the Sai Group, Brookshires in Newton, and the Southeast Texas Food Bank. The toys were supplied by the Toys for Tots program that was managed by the Newton Volunteer Fire Department. The distribution point was the Christian Community Life Center. The Newton Food Share geared up for the holiday by storing an extra large amount of food for distribution and opening the doors on December 23, 2008, for Christmas supplies.
