Eastern Star Annual Event and Fund Raiser

Nashville Stars

July 19, 2008

Eastern Star contributes to a number of charitable projects throughout the year. Their major fund raiser was a show called Nashville Stars. Newton folks took on the persona of various Nashville Stars and performed their greatest hits. There was a pretty diverse level of talent as well as diverse songs performed. Charles Wright sounds more like Willie Nelson than Willie Nelson. Christye Shaw can sing as well or better than anybody that she wants to imitate. Then, on the other hand, there are those with no talent (such as the Soggy Bottom Boys) who lip synched the music of real stars. Regardless, everyone seemed to have a good time and money was raised for a good cause.

For the price of a measly $6 people got to enjoy a great (sometimes anyway) show after having a good brisket supper. The event was held in the Christian Community Life Center, also known as the big green building.

The pictures start with the supper preparation and eating and continue about half way through the show. The photographer got sleepy and missed the last portion of the show.
