The Hubbard Project

This is a very interesting project because of the length of time it took to complete. The initial work was done in 2006 mostly by the Mennonite Disaster Service. It was completed in 2007 with funds from the Permanent Endowment Fund of Moody Memorial First United Methodist Church in Galveston, Texas. The Mennonite Disaster Service supplied the volunteer labor for phase 2.

The Hubbard House was actually begun in 2006. A local contractor removed wet and rotted sheetrock and flooring. The house was almost destroyed by Rita. See Hubbard House 2006 for more details on the work.

The Mennonite Disaster Service volunteers replaced the roof and repaired the foundation

In 2007, the MDS replaced siding that was removed to fix the foundation, added a new bathroom, and refurbished the inside of the house

Amish volunteers measure the new flooring prior to installation.
