John Wesley United Methodist Church fell in love with Newton, Texas, during their UM ARMY experience. (UM ARMY 2008). They returned on July 25-26, 2008 to complete some work projects; at the request of FUMC, they also prepared a Summer Day School and Youth Rally for the community. Their total mission was a tremendous success (John Wesley July 25-26, 2008)... And they decided to return in 2009 for a repeat performance! The team started arriving on Thursday, August 7, and camped out at the church building in UM ARMY style. Project work started on Friday, with three teams going out to do repairs. Another team prepared for and did Summer Day Camp (vacation bible school) from 10 AM to 2 PM on both Friday and Saturday. Another team prepared for and presented a Youth Rally from 7 to 10 PM on Friday. 3 projects were completed, Summer Day Camp was a big success, and the Youth Rally was absolutely awesome!

The following pictures show the Bud Walker water fountain project. This water fountain was donated in memory of Bud Walker by his wife Carmen. The Mennonite Disaster Service provided water lines to the location, and Paul Hughes installed a concrete foundation, a water fountain and a well covering over it. John Wesley UMC painted it.
