This particular project is located in Wiergate. The new house is being built in place of a destroyed mobile home that has been pulled out of the way to make room for the new house. The project materials are being funded by DETCOG and the Mennonite Disaster Service. This project is being done by the MDS group at the East Texas Baptist Encampment. The new owner is the Fowler family.

The following pictures were taken on February 10, 2009.
I arrived during lunch break. The group this week was from Normal, Illinois, and surrounding area. This was a church group: The Mennonite Church of Normal. Most of the group were members of that congregation, and they were joined by friends from other nearby churches. Their pastor was one of the workers.

The back porch being built

I thought this was amazing. They cut these posts to length by making cuts on all four sides, and the overall cut came out perfect as if it was done with a single cut

It works better if you grit your teeth!

Just two days later on February 12, 2009.

You can tell it rained the night before; The septic tank excavation was full of water.

February 17, 2009. The folks this week were from an area in Ontario just north of Toronto. They represented 3 churches: Baptist, Brethren, and the Markham Waterloo Mennonite Conference.
