Medical Camp, December 13, 2008. Page 2 ETHAN, First United Methodist Church, The Newton Volunteer Fire Department, the Newton Masonic Lodge, The County Extension Office, Children's Protective Services, DETCOG, Newton Aid, the Victim Coalition, John Dixon, and the Newton and Jasper Communities sponsored a medical camp on Saturday, December 13, 2008. It was held at the Christian Community Life Center at 207 Houston Street. Physicians, nurse, medical technicians, medical equipment and volunteers from the Sai organization were gracious enough to come from all over Texas to provide free medical care and groceries for the community. The SAI group is an extraordinary, charitable organization. More information about Sai can be obtained on http://www.sathyasai.org/organize/z1reg01/introbooklet/mission.htm#9 Door prizes were supplied by the Newton Chamber of Commerce and several member companies such as Whispering Creek Motel and RV Park and Spivey's Barbecue. This camp could not have taken place without the experience and skills of East Texas Health Access Network (ETHAN). An organization serving East Texas for many years. |
