The UMARMY is affiliated with the United Methodist Church and is headquartered in Houston. Each summer hundreds of youth and adult mentors go on working mission trips throughout Texas. Recently, the organization is spreading to other states. These mission trips accomplish various tasks to help clients such as building wheel chair ramps, making minor repairs, cleaning up yards and cutting grass, painting, and the like. While these activities are of benefit to clients and communities, the primary goal is the spiritual formation of the youth. The youth work hard for their clients, and the daily worship and prayer is focused on relating their work experiences to their spiritual lives. That is to say, they work as part of the body of Christ in his world and for God's children. In it is an extraordinary organization that is making disciples for Christ for the transformation of the world.

The following set of pictures show the progress that was made on the home of Bobbie Belcambre in Newton. The back porch was being finished when these were taken.

A new project was started for Bernice Thomas in Buckhorn. This group was going to paint the roof of her porch, but the paint was incorrect, and they were waiting for new paint to arrive.

After completing the repairs to Pearl Adams house, this work team painted the exterior of the house... the first few pictures are of a popsicle break!

When you paint, you have to hold your tongue just right!

The group above ran next door to Mrs. Adam's sister's house and repaired the wheel chair ramp

The next home is in Jamestown. This team installed a roof on the top of an existing porch so that the client can sit on her porch during the day.

Marilyn Kent of Newton had some enormous crape myrtles that needed to be trimmed. A big job!
