Dedication and Consecration of the Christian Community Life Center

September 30, 2007, was an important time in the life of First United Methodist Church. The teachers, students, and parents of the Methodist Christian School were invited to attend and sing some songs that they had learned in school. They sang a song about Noah and the ark, and were joined by the congregation in Jesus Loves Me.  Dr. Richard Burnham, the Superintendent of the Southeast District of the Texas Annual Conference, preached on the timeliness of our new adventure with the Christian Community Life Center. Recognizing the time and work spent in completing the CCLC, we are now at an important time as we move forward to minister to the community utilizing our new resource. We envision a time when the CCLC is filled with children, youth, and families that we can minister to. It is a time of opportunity.

Following the worship service, we had a magnificent banquet in the CCLC, followed by a consecration ceremony. Last, but not least, we had our charge conference.

This group includes all of our teachers of the school, several of the students, and some of the young people of the church. This was taken just before they sang.

This is the group of people who were involved in the completion of our dream... the Christian Community Life Center! Many years of planning, prayer, fund raising, and construction have ended. The two gentlemen in the middle with the plaques are Ray Armstrong and Paul Hughes. We recognize their extraordinary efforts in the completion of the building. Without these two men, we would still have an empty shell of a building. Clearly we have been following God's will in helping to support His Kingdom in Newton... or this building would never have been completed.
