Timber Operations in East Texas Being a city boy, I always envisioned a timber operation as a bunch of people with double bitted axes and chain saws climbing trees to top them and cutting them down at the base. My concept was far removed from reality. Timber operations are quite mechanized. On January 14, 2009, I visited the timber operations of Fomby Timber in Newton County. |
