| Christ United Methodist Church from
College Station, Texas, arrived in Newton to help with Rita Restoration
Projects. They arrived June 8 and worked through June 11.
The following people came to Newton to work: Bedevian;
Lauren and Michael Bradfield;
Amy, Paul, Matthew and Kyle Dean;
Cathy Fiebig;
Brad Foutz;
Paul Jackson;
Susan, Tom, Amanda, and Meredith Kelly;
Mike, and Pat Ringer;
Larry Rudder;
Jay Smith;
Deanne and Sam Thomas;
Andrew, Shelly, Hannah, and Luke Williams,
Quinn Young; Donna and Jeremy Notice that several families gave up their vacation time to be here for us. While they were here, they tackled and accomplished several projects. The first project is the home of Pearline Abraham in Newton. The Mennonite Disaster Service did some initial repairs to this house. It had been blown off of its foundation, and they leveled the house. Christ Church replaced the roof, and the house still needs painting. The following pictures are of the house before work started. |

| Christ United Methodist Church arrived on June 8 and began day 1 of construction. Like a swarm of bees (or ants) the equipment, tools, and materials are unloaded. Even the children helped! That afternoon temperatures were at 100 degrees... yet they worked on! | ||

On June 9th, the second day of construction, the roof was completed, and it was time to move on to another project! These next pictures show the project as it nears completion. |

| Helen Metoyer lives right next door to Ms. Abraham. Her home needed leveling and needed new doors and windows broken during the storm. These next pictures show the home before Christ United Methodist Church began work on it. |

Christ United Methodist Church started on this home at the same time they started the Abraham home next door. Although, it was not requested, they also cut the grass around the trailer. Rev. Michael Bedevian, pastor, was on the work team, and he is shown using a weed eater. |

A third project is the home of Helen Smith who lives in Liberty Community. Her home needs new decking and a new roof. Also, the home needs some siding replaced and needs to be painted. Christ Church will take care of the decking and roof. |

This damage on the ceiling shows how much water got into her home because of the damage to the roof! Ceiling replacement awaits another volunteer work group. |

Christ United Methodist Church began work on this project on June 9th after completing the Pearline Abraham project above. Work began with the stripping of the old roof. It was another 100 degrees day! |

Saturday, June 10 seemed even more hot and humid that Thursday and Friday. Those in Newton watching the parade thought the heat was brutal should have been on Helen Smith's roof with this wonderful group from College Station. This last group of pictures shows the final touches being put on the roof and clean up. Just before leaving, I took this group picture. They had been out in this heat working all day! |
