For the new 2006-7 school year, First United Methodist Church purchased school supplies for the Elementary, Middle, and High Schools. These supplies have been made available to the children and youth of Newton. The funds for the purchases were donated by Seabrook United Methodist Church in Seabrook, Texas.

Sharon Fontenot at Dollar General in Newton helped us pick and out purchase school supplies

It took a long time to check out!

This is why it took a while to check out

We emptied the shelves at Dollar General and went to Wal-Mart in Jasper. They had some really cool backpacks for Mid and Senior High.

Sarah Richardson, Reading Specialist at the Elementary School, helps with shopping and check out.

A final stop at Walgreens where Jo helps us check out!

Now with tons of supplies, the next job is to deliver them to their appointed distribution points!

Michelle Barrow, Elementary principal, inspects some of the supplies

Sherry Tracy, Senior High Counselor, stores the supplies for distribution to Senior High Students

Natalie Snowden models one of the Backpacks

Megan Fomby checks out some of the T-shirts

The supplies were given to students without a lot of fanfare that would draw attention the them. With each gift of supplies the following flyer was given to the student.
